Busted Busting a Move

This is a great video of Cy bouncing to some music. He got completely shy and wouldn't make eye contact when he realized he was busted with the camera. So cute!

Rocking Halloween Party

We had a Halloween Party the other night with some friends, which of course included Rock Band. The matching wigs on the guys were not planned, I suppose great minds think alike.

Not your typical pumpkin patch

I'd like to say due to the economic crisis of our country, I've re prioritized what purchases our family should be making and have decided not to subscribe to the capitalist agenda of marketing a silly holiday that only creates more work and shopping for me.
However, that would be a lie...I'm simply too busy/lazy/unmotivated to decorate my house for Halloween this year. Luckily for us, we walked by Smith and Wollensky in the city the other day and discovered several enormous pumpkins displayed outside their doors. I had to take advantage of a great photo opportunity with Cy, who was dressed up like a little farmer boy. I've decided that will be our pumpkin patch visit this year.

Grandma Pia visits!

My Mom had the opportunity to take a 5 day layover in New York while flying back from Denmark. The kids had so much fun with her (and so did I), we went shopping, drove upstate, watched Madi's volleyball game, laughed at the mis-translated words she said, and hung out in the city. Thanks for the visit Mom, and for giving me constant material to tease you with!

He Can Crawl!

Cy hasn't been especially motivated to crawl on his own, probably because I accommodate him a little too much and have been trying to keep him a newborn as long as possible. Finally, after scooting backwards for a month Mike bribes him with a little ice cream. Luckily both Grandma's were there to see it in person (and on Skype).

City Living

Ok, so we don't live IN the city...but I love the benefits of being close enough to hop in for a day of friends(Jen and Cal)and shopping. I love this place!

General Conference

I remember being a child and dreading to have to sit through dull and uninteresting talks watching LDS General Conference twice a year. Now that I’m older my perspective has changed. Listening to conference re-boots me and reminds me why I love the church so much. It brings me back to the basics of the principles we should live by, but often times forget as we get wrapped up in every day life. It helps me tolerate those people within my religion who I don't relate to or agree with. Here are some of the messages I appreciated and make me proud to be a Mormon.
• Unity – We should feel unified as one people with not only church members, but the world. There is more that connects us to our fellow man than divides us.
• Contention – Take the higher road, don’t engage in contentious religious banter, but rather share unconditional love with everyone regardless of how we are attacked.
• Serve – Serve and love our “neighbors” regardless of race religion or culture, be anxious to bless the whole human race. Provide for others regardless of our financial state. The church Welfare program is “heavens help in practical ways”.
• Young Women – Empower yourselves and arise to call for the return to virtue. Don’t give into the lures of media to dress and conduct your self in a provocative manner. Don’t underestimate the power of your righteous choices.
• Appreciate today – A life of planning for tomorrow leaves a lot of empty yesterdays. Don’t focus on what we don’t have or what we want, but live a life of gratitude for what we have today. Fill our time with those things that matter most.
